Rajasthan CM resigns, promises BJP would prove itself a good Opposition.

Jaipur: Conceding defeat, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhra Raje on Monday resigned and promised that the BJP would prove itself a good Opposition.

“We accept the verdict of the people and I am going to submit my resignation to the governor,” Raje told reporters here in her last press conference as chief minister.

“I promise we would be an effective opposition in the assembly and will ensure that development work started in the recent past would be smoothly executed,” she added.

According to the Chief Election Commission's office, in the 200-member legislative assembly, the BJP has managed only 68 seats and was leading in 11 others seats at around 6 p.m., while the Congress has bagged 92 seats and was leading in four other places.

“I express my gratitude to millions of people. People have not given a clear mandate to the Congress. It will be a hung assembly,” she predicted.

She said that during her five years' term she had not compromised on the development of the state.

“During my tenure, our government has done good work. We delivered what we promised. We took Rajasthan out of the Bimaru (sick) status,” she said.

“I thank everyone for giving me affection, respect and cooperation.”
