New Delhi: Taking a dig at the Election Commision for serving a notice on Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav for alleged violation of model code of conduct, party General Secretary leader Amar Singh on Thursday said it should issue a similar notice to him for giving money at a religious ceremony.
"I had visited Kalehar Sharif (in Roorkie) yesterday where I was presented with a headgear. As per the tradition, I gave money...I am telling you I paid money. If this is also a violation of the model code of conduct, please get a notice issued in my name," SP general secretary Amar Singh said.
He was reacting to the EC notice to his party chief Mulayam Singh.
"Let me make it clear that Mulayam Singh did not distribute money. People give money to youngsters on Holi and Diwali. Should we stop celebrating Holi and Diwali?" he said.
