New Delhi: Shiv Sena on Saturday said the pro-Narendra Modi demonstrations outside BJP veteran LK Advani's residence need to be condemned by all political parties, including the BJP.
Senior Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut described Advani as the tallest leader of the country who practiced principled politics and said the protests outside his residence needed to be condemned.
On developments in BJP at its National Executive meet in Goa, Raut said it was an internal matter of that party and NDA constituents should refrain from commenting on these issues. He said the meeting in Goa was to decide the BJP agenda for the times ahead.
As 85-year-old Advani chose to skip BJP's National Executive meet in Goa, a group of Modi supporters staged a protest outside his 30-Prithviraj Road residence in Delhi for his apparent opposition to a greater role for the Gujarat Chief Minister.
Holding placards like 'Narendra Modi Zindabad' and 'Bring Modi as Prime Minister', the protesters demanded that Advani should step aside and allow the Gujarat Chief Minister to assume a greater role in the party.
Advani skipped the meet, perhaps for the first time in the party's history, apparently to express his opposition to making Modi the campaign committee chief, which will in effect present him as the face of the party for the next general elections.
He cited ill health as the reason for his staying away from the two-day conclave which began on Saturday.
