Tamil Nadu CM to Urge PM Modi to Confer Bharat Ratna on Jayalalithaa
The Tamil Nadu government had on December 10 decided to recommend to the Union government to confer the Bharat Ratna on late chief minister and AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa.

New Delhi: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam will call upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Moday to urge him to posthumously confer Bharat Ratna on Jayalalithaa.

Besides, Panneerselvam will also hand over a letter to Modi for installing a life size bronze statue of Jayalalithaa in the Parliament Complex, reports said.

On the sidelines of presenting a memorandum containing various demands including disbursal of financial aid to handle the devastating impact of Cyclone Vardah in Chennai, Tiruvallur and Kancheepuram districts of the state, Panneerselvam will meet the PM on Monday.

The Tamil Nadu government had on December 10 decided to recommend to the Union government to confer the Bharat Ratna on late chief minister and AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa.

The cabinet also decided request the Union government to install a brass statue of Jayalalithaa in the Parliament's central hall.
