Pune: BJP's prime ministerial candidate and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Friday urged the voters to support his party in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and give it a chance to form the government at the Centre.
Accusing the Congress of misgovernance and failing to control rising prices, Modi said that India was a much better place whenever the BJP and its earlier avatar the Jan Sangh were a part of the Central government. He asserted BJP's model of governance was the best in India.
"The time has come for the voters to decide if the BJP should be given a chance to form government at the Centre," said Modi at a rally in Pune. Modi went on to say that during Morarji Desai and Atal Bihari Vajpayee's reign prices were kept under control.
Claiming that Congress and its leaders were so drunk on power and egoist that they had failed to see the suefferings of the common man, Modi asked them to throw them out of power. Modi also added confidently that in 2014 the BJP will win the Lok Sabha elections and form the government.
He further said in 2012 Gujarat elections the voters had given their verdict in favour of the BJP. "Congress keeps on questioning me and the Gujarat model, but never answers about its rule," said Modi.
Modi continued to attack the Congress by saying, "The Congress had made many promises before the 2009 elections, but did not fulfil any of them. Under Congress's rule Delhi has become the rape capital of India."
He stressed his life was for the people of India and the Congress had always targeted and maligned his image.
