Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) activists on Monday pelted stones at the convoy of TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu when he was proceeding to Mahbubnagar in the Telangana region, leaving some TDP workers and media personnel injured.
Tension prevailed in Parigi as police chased away the protestors who raised slogans against Naidu and in support of Telangana.
Some TDP workers and some media personnel were injured in the stone pelting, reports reaching here said, adding one of the SUVs in the convoy was damaged in the stone-pelting.
A police constable also received head injury in the stone pelting. The TRS workers demanded that Naidu clearly spell out his stand on separate Telangana state. A TDP leader accompanying Chandrababu Naidu alleged that TRS workers and a few BJP men mobbed the residence of Parigi MLA K Hareeshwar Reddy when the TDP chief stopped for breakfast.
Even at Chevella en route, the activists tried to block his convoy but police thwarted the attempt.
Later, the Leader of Opposition continued his tour and addressed a public meeting at Tunkimetla. Naidu was on his way to Mahbubnagar district to interact with farmers on the fertiliser scarcity being faced by them. He was scheduled to stage a dharna in front of the district Collector's office in Mahbubnagar.
Police have registered cases against the protestors and taken some of them into custody.
