UP: Mayawati's security cover reduced
However, the Z plus security cover provided to the BSP supremo will continue.

New Delhi: After the Bahujan Samaj Party's (BSP) debacle in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, party chief Mayawati loses her security cover. Two days after taking oath, the Samajwadi Party (SP) government in UP withdrew 400 security branch personnel and security cars including escort and pilots from outgoing chief minister Mayawati's security cover.

However, the Z plus security provided to her will continue.

Mayawati will meet Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLAs and MPs on Saturday to discuss the reasons of the BSP's poll debacle. On Sunday, she will meet all office bearers and zonal coordinators.

Sources say that Mayawati is now aiming for a Rajya Sabha seat for herself and retired close aide Shashank Shekhar Singh.

The Rajya Sabha elections are on March 30, and nominations will be held in a few days.

The BSP has 80 MLAs in UP. So Mayawati can send two MPs to Rajya Sabha.
