Lucknow: The National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) Scheme has been facing more murk in Uttar Pradesh. The body of a clerk from the health department Mahendra Sharma was found at a public health centre in Lakhimpur Kheri.
The family of Sharma, who was missing since February 7, has alleged that he was under pressure from the CMO to sign files and was suspended after he refused.
The family now wants a post-mortem to be conducted by an external team and not from the Lakhimpur Kheri district.
The CMO who allegedly pressured the clerk has already been probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The police has been waiting for the post mortem report to determine if this was a murder or a suicide.
Fifth death in the NRHM Scam?
Earlier, engineer Sunil Verma, an accused in the multi-crore NRHM scam, committed suicide on Monday at his residence.
Two Chief Medical Officers posted in Lucknow were murdered, and a Deputy CMO was found dead inside the Lucknow jail hospital under mysterious circumstances.
