Jhargram: West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Tuesday said if the Opposition Trinamool Congress is voted to power, then the might of the Maoists will increase.
"If the TMC wins then the Maoists will raise their heads once again in the state. Giving vote to them equals giving vote to the Maoists," Bhattacharjee told an election rally here in the Maoist-prone West Midnapore district.
"They want the return of the Maoists in the state. This will create more disturbance. We have to remain alert and stop them," he said.
Pointing out that the Maoists have unleashed a series of violent incidents in places like Bankura and Midnapore in the last two to three years, the Chief Minister said the Maoists-backed PCPA has turned out to be a "committee of killers".
He said if the Left Front government is voted to power this time as well, it will improve the rationing system in the state by giving rice at Rs 2 per kg and also ensuring regular supply of sugar and dal.
