For Afghanistan, it was Fazalhaq Farooqi who was the pick of the bowlers with a four-wicket haul against Sri Lanka. Along with the pacer, Mujeeb-ur-Rahman also contributed with two crucial wickets in the middle stages of the first innings with the wickets of Sri Lankan skipper Kusal Mendis and Sadeera Samarawickrama restricting Sri Lanka to a total of 241 runs in the first innings.

In the second innings, after the early dismissal of Rahmanullah Gurbaz, the batting trio of Rahmat Shah, Hashmatullah Shahidi, and Azmatullah Omarzai managed to raise fifties each to give the Afghans victory.

Afghanistan will have a big challenge ahead of them if they are to qualify as they would have to get the better of Netherlands, Australia, and South Africa in their final three fixtures in the league stages.

India remains at the top of the table having been undefeated in the tournament so far. They looked like they were going to face their first defeat after setting a relatively low score against England but the Indian bowling managed to rescue them and give them victory by 100 runs.

The defending champions England however, continue to have a disastrous run in the tournament having won just one game against Bangladesh and losing all their other games to keep them bottom of the table.

The top-four race will get even more interesting with New Zealand set to go up against Pakistan with both sides aiming to get a win and better their chances to secure their spots for the semis.

The game between Pakistan vs Bangladesh will also be a crucial game for the former as they also aim to get back on track and put all the noise regarding their performances aside as they look to secure a spot in the top four.
