One of the legendary actors in cinema, Kamal Haasan has teamed up with director Mani Ratnam for his next film titled Thug Life. Kamal Haasan will play the role of Rangaraya Sakthivel Nayakar in this film. Now, there is another update related to this film. The makers have roped in actress Aishwarya Lekshmi for this movie. This will be the first time Aishwarya will act in a film starring Kamal Haasan. Thug Life’s team shared a poster welcoming her onboard on social media. It is not known which character will be played by her. The other actors in the star cast are Jayam Ravi, Trisha Krishnan, and Dulquer Salmaan. Madras Talkies, Raajkamal Films International, and Red Giant have produced Thug Life. Kamal Haasan has also served as a writer for Thug Life.
The interest in this film was piqued when Raajkamal Films International unveiled its title teaser. The teaser shows Kamal Haasan standing calmly amidst stormy weather. It also shows some people marching towards him with weapons. Ulaganayagan, as Kamal Haasan is known, then introduces himself to the cameras. He says, “My name is Rangaraya Sakthivel Nayakar from Kayalpattinam." Rangaraya Sakthivel Nayakar then says that it was his destiny to become a thief and fight the goons bare-handedly. As the teaser ends, Kamal Haasan again introduces his character by saying, “My name is Rangaraya Sakthivel Nayakar, don’t forget it."
Social media users loved the teaser, especially the background music composed by the legendary AR Rahman. One of the users commented, “Finally A R Rahman returns to what he does best, amazing BGM at the end pure Goosebumps". Another appreciated Kamal Haasan and wrote, “Living Legend of Indian Cinema …An Actor Par Excellence. His pronunciation, Accent, Regional Tinge, Hats off …An Encyclopedia of Cinema. Deserves much more than what he is getting … in terms of Recognition, Remuneration, Adulation, and Appreciation."
This is the second time Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam have teamed up since the 1987-film Nayakan. He played the role of a gangster named Velu Naicker in this film. It is currently streaming on Amazon Prime and SUN NXT. Other actors in this film were Saranya Ponvannan, Delhi Ganesh, and others.
