The Makar Sankranti week witnessed the release of three major films – Merry Christmas, Captain Miller, and HanuMan. Teja Sajja’s HanuMan emerged as a blockbuster at the box office, having been produced with a budget of Rs 20 crore. Directed by Prasanth Varma, it is the first instalment of the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe. The film has surpassed the Rs 200 crore mark in terms of worldwide collections, establishing its dominance amidst tough competition.
HanuMan faced strong competition from Dhanush’s Captain Miller and Vijay Sethupathi’s Merry Christmas at the box office. Despite the challenges, HanuMan outshone the others, and even Pankaj Tripathi’s Main Atal Hoo released on January 19 failed to make a significant impact on its collections.
Having made a robust entry into the Rs 100 crore club in terms of domestic collections in India last week, HanuMan continued its successful run. According to reports from Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 4.25 crore on the 12th day, marking a slight decline in its earnings. However, the overall business in India across all languages has reached an impressive Rs 143.25 crore. To celebrate this success, actor Teja Sajja and director Prashanth Varma visited theatres and events in Mumbai and Delhi. Teja Sajja expressed gratitude to the audience for the film’s successful reception.

Meanwhile, Main Atal Hoon faced a setback at the box office after its release on January 19. The film’s earnings have been consistently low, with only Rs 75 lakh in business on Tuesday. In the last five days, the movie earned a mere Rs 7.10 crore. Pankaj Tripathi played the role of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the film.
In contrast, Vijay Sethupathi and Katrina Kaif’s suspense thriller Merry Christmas experienced dwindling earnings, collecting only Rs 24 lakh on the second Tuesday. The film’s total box office earnings now stand at Rs 17.96 crore. Similarly, Dhanush’s Captain Miller collected only Rs 51 lakh on the same day, bringing its total collection to Rs 44.36 crore.
The box office dynamics reflect HanuMan’s triumph in a competitive landscape, proving its mettle and drawing audiences to theatres.
