Apple's streaming service Apple Music has surpassed 10 million subscribers.

The paid-for platform has acquired the users in the six months since its launch in June 2015, NME reports.

The service is still playing second fiddle to Spotify, which allegedly boasts more than double that number of subscribers. Other competitors include Jay-Z's platform Tidal.

Apple Music, which was released on Android earlier in November, costs US$10 a month, with a family option (for less than six people) at $15 per month, although rates vary in some countries. The first three trial months are offered for free.
