Apple's iOS10: Top 5 Features and Compatible iPhones, iPads
When will you be able to get iOS10 on your iPhone and iPad? Is your device compatible?

At WWDC 2016 Apple launched the much awaited iOS 10 operating system for iPhones and iPads.

Apple's annual conference is known for giving developers a sneak peek into the company's future product rollout.

What are the top five features of the new operating system for iPhones and iPads? When will you be able to get iOS 10 on your iPhone and iPad? Is your device compatible?

We answer all your queries.

Top 5 Features of iOS 10

1. Raise to Wake

On iOS 9 you could see the lock screen notifications. But the Apple Touch ID many times blasted you straight to the home screen when all you wanted to do was see a notification. In iOS 10, Apple lets you see just the notifications. All you have to do is raise the phone to your eye level and the lock screen turns on.

2. Siri

Siri is now open to app developers and will be available on the new MacOS as well. But the biggest improvement on Siri now is that you can activate non-Apple apps and functions via voice commands.

3. QuickType and Photos

Apple has got Siri artificial intelligence to your iPhones and iPads keyboard with QuickType. It uses artificial intelligence and context cues to offer more relevant suggestions when typing.

Just like QuickType the Photos app has also got the taste of artificial intelligence. Photos can now draw together linked photos and videos by place, people and time. This then creates highlight reels and trip mementoes; Apple calls this 'Memories'. It is something similar to what HTC could do with Zoe back in the HTC One.

4. News

Apple News has also been redesigned. The interface is now more clean and simple to navigate. Now you also have a subscription option for your favourite publications.

5. iMessage

Apple, along with the new phone app with which now can transcribe your voice mails, also took the liberty to redesign the iMessage App. On iOS 10 the iMessage app will now have emoji, which will be three times the size and will be incorporated into predictive text as well. You'll also be able to share links from the internet just as you do on other IM apps.

The best feature of iMessage is the invisible ink feature. So if you write a message to a friend with invisible ink the recipient can only read it only if they swipe their finger over the message.

iOS 10 Compatible Devices and Release Date

The iOS 10 compatible devices are iPad 4, iPad Air, iPad Air 2, iPad Pro (9.7-inch and 12.9-inch), iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 4, iPod touch 6th generation, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus and iPhone SE.

The developer preview beta version of iOS is available right now, but you'll need a developer account to get it. iOS 10 will enter a public beta testing programme in July 2016 and will be available for all as a free update in the autumn of 2016.

We'll all be waiting for Apple iPhone 7 to release in Apple's September 2016 event where more features are likey to be unveiled.
