Google Hangouts gets its own website; can use it independently of Gmail, Google+, Chrome

A much-desired feature that surprisingly took a very long time to arrive. Google Hangouts (that was previously called Google Talk) finally has an independent website and with this Google gives us an additional way of accessing the service.

Go to hangouts.google.com , log in with your Google account and you are good to chat away.

The Hangouts website in addition to text messaging also includes video and phone calling features.

The background image on sparse looking website automatically changes, much like that on Google Chromecast.
