On May 21, Google announced an update to its Search feature: a new option that allows you to simply "tap" on shortcuts located underneath the search box.

The shortcuts have been introduced for "moments when you just want to catch up on the latest for topics of interest" according to the Google blog, such as what's on at your local theatre, recommendations on nearby restaurants, sports scores, quick-access tools and weather forecasts.

The update, which is available on the Google app for Android and iOS as well as Google.com via the mobile web (handheld devices), has only currently rolled out in the US.
