High Risk Security Alert From The Indian Govt For Android Users: All You Need To Know
Android users across different range have got the security alert from the government's agency, what is the issue, how does it affect you and what you should do.

Android users in India have got a new security alert from the nodal security agency of the Indian government which affects millions of Android phones in the country. The alert comes via the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team or CERT-In warning them about a high-severity issue in the latest phones that can easily let hackers steal data from the affected phones.

“These vulnerabilities exist in Android due to flaws in the framework, system, Google Play system updates, Arm components, Imagination Technologies, MediaTek components, Unisoc components, Qualcomm components, and its closed-source components,” CERT-In mentioned in its latest April 2024 bulletin.

Android Versions Affected By New Security Risk

The note also mentions the Android versions that are affected by the security risk:

– Android 12

– Android 12L

– Android 13

– Android 14

Android Security Issue April 2024: What You Should Do Now

When you consider the active Android devices in the country, more than 90 percent of them are running on these versions, and the worrying part is that the components are linked to major tech manufacturers who supply the hardware to power these phones.

Multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in Android which could be exploited by an attacker to obtain sensitive information, gain elevated privileges and cause denial of service conditions on the targeted system.

Security issues like these make the Android users vulnerable to possible phishing attempts that can bypass their security and allow the bad actors to steal data. The best way to prevent these incidents is to make sure the Android version running on your phone has the latest security patch, and avoid installing apps, or click on links shared by unknown sources.
