Seoul: LG Electronics announced that it will begin the first overseas rollout of its fun and customizable AKA smartphone starting in Hong Kong next week followed by China, Taiwan, Singapore and Turkey.

LG AKA was first introduced to Korean customers at the end of 2014, where it has garnered healthy sales and positive customer feedback for its originality and sense of humor.

The Android 4.4 KitKat smartphone comes in four different personas: Eggy in Yellow who falls frequently in love; Wooky in White who's impulsive; Soul in Navy who is soft-hearted and music-loving; and Yo-Yo in Pink who is always on a diet.

The characters' personalities are woven into wallpapers, widgets and ringtones of the device. The most interesting feature is AKA's interactive and animated eyes which move as the user removes the phone's slide cover. Users also have an option to customize their phones with stickers, markers or paint, for a true DIY experience.

For the global rollout, LG has tweaked the AKA lineup by adding an emotional UX element like customizable glasses and eyebrows for each pair of eyes. Another unique UX feature is the included Art Toy figurine which can be digitized and integrated into the phone's user experience.

The LG AKA smartphone features a 5-inch HD IPS display screen and runs on 1.2Ghz quad-core processor. The phone sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with auto-focus and a 2.1-megapixel front camera. It is powered with 2,610mAh battery and supports 4G LTE.

The phone includes 16GB internal storage capacity, expandable with microSD card. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS, and USB.
