MediaTek’s New Budget Helio P22 SoC To Support Dual-Camera and 20:9 HD+ Display
The MediaTek Helio P22 just like the Helio P60 comes with befits of Edge AI enhancements powered by MediaTek NeuroPilot.

MediaTek, the chipset company that gave us Helio P60 chipset has announced its latest Helio P22 chip. The Helio P22 SoC derives a lot of inspiration from its elder sibling, the Helio P60 chipset. The new Helio P22 SoC is built on a 12nm manufacturing process that beats Qualcomm to introduce a Chipset with this manufacturing process in a mid-range segment. MediaTek also states that the P22 offers the benefits of AI, advanced photography, high-speed connectivity options in the affordable smartphone space. The P22 SoC is also expected to be available in consumer devices by the end of Q2 2018 and will be seen in devices from Oppo and Vivo.

The MediaTek Helio P22 is built with TSMC’s 12nm FinFET technology that similar to the one you get on the Helio P60. The company claims that it will be able to deliver exceptional battery life but not at the risk of providing top-notch performance. This Octa-core processor is based on a Cortex A53 architecture and offers a maximum clock speed of 2.0 GHz. The Helio P22 also comes with support for dual 4G connectivity in both the SIM cards, same as the Helio P60. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0 and the 4-Satellite system GNSS.

The MediaTek Helio P22 just like the Helio P60 comes with befits of Edge AI enhancements powered by MediaTek NeuroPilot. The chipset will also provide an AI accelerated camera experiences including Face ID, smart photo album and single-camera as well as the dual-camera depth of field features. The Helio P22 supports the hardware-driven dual camera for up to a 13MP+8MP combination with an ability that's as fast as 30 frames-per-second (FPS). Finally, the company also says that the Helio P22 SoC will offer support for a 20:9 aspect ratio HD+ display with a resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels.
