New Delhi: Following the launch of its two new budget smartphones, Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL, at the Barcelona event, Microsoft has announced that it will not be rolling out new flagship devices till its latest Windows 10 is officially unveiled later this year.
A report in The Verge quoted Microsoft's director of phone marketing, Neil Broadley, saying that Microsoft is waiting for the Windows 10 official release before it brings out any new flagship hardware.
The Windows 10 operating system for phones, which is said to have a mid-2015 release, will include biometric authentication feature, enabling users to access their devices without entering passwords.
The OS for Windows Phone will have People, a chat app replacing the earlier Rooms group chat feature.
New features of the next version of Windows will possibly have an improved Internet browser and more uses for Microsoft's voice-controlled digital assistant, Cortana.
Broadley reiterated that the best time to bring flagship to market is when Microsoft will have its Windows 10 software experience ready.
