Poco India is the latest smartphone brand to face the ire of the offline retailer body in the country. The brand has been accused of supporting its online deals and giving the offline retailers a cold shoulder in the country with its products, as per ET report.
OnePlus is already facing questions about its availability across stores in India, and Poco could also have some issues that need to be resolved at the earliest. The South Indian Organized Retailers Association (ORA) along with the All India Mobile Retailers Association (AIMRA) have been at loggerheads with OnePlus and Poco is now headed in the bad books with the bodies that control over 150,000 retail stores in the country.
The letter sent to Poco India chief shares their complaint about the company’s exclusive launches with e-commerce platforms and also indulging in dealing with unauthorised channels to sell their products in the market.
OnePlus has already assured the retailers and is working with its partners to keep the association going in the long run. Poco has also spoken about the issue, and quoted in the report, stating its commitment to offering its products through offline channels and even mentioned its purported association with one of the leading offline multi-brand retailers.
However, Poco has not satisfied the demands of the retailers body and wants the company to increase its offline presence and stop the practice of launching online-only products in the market going forward.
Unlike OnePlus that has a strict deadline to comply with the retailers or face nationwide ban, Poco has escaped similar sanctions but it is imperative that the company works out the best possible solution that keeps everyone happy. We’ll be keeping a close eye on these developments regarding OnePlus and Poco and share updates as they come.
