Telegram New Update Brings Multi-Tab In-App Browser, Mini App Store And More Features
Telegram regularly brings new features via software update for its users and the latest version offers an expansive list of tools.

Telegram has recently rolled out a bunch of new features. From a new in-app browser with multi-tab support to a fresh category of mini apps and a Mini App Store, the new developments in the instant messaging platform are aimed at improving the overall platform experience of the 950 million monthly active users. The update also allows active users to take advantage of the new option that enables them to gift Telegram Stars to family and friends.

With the latest update, Telegram outlined these new features to users in a blog post. So, without much ado, let’s have a detailed look at the new features Telegram has added to the messaging app.

Telegram Browser

The new in-app browser supports users to open multiple tabs, enabling users to switch between messages, websites, articles, and mini apps. It also supports decentralised websites hosted on the The Open Network (TON) on desktop and mobile. As per Telegram, users can go back to chats without losing their progress while viewing a webpage.

The new update feature let users collapse and reopen windows from the bottom bar, add bookmarks, and then continue from where they left off after checking notifications.

Mini App Store

Another addition to the platform is a new Apps tab in Search. The update enables users to browse through the mini apps present on the platform. This tab also lets users check the list of frequently used and popular mini apps on the platform and allows developers to upload video demos and screenshots for previews.

Sharing from Mini Apps to Stories

Furthermore, the company has introduced a new feature that lets mini apps generate content for Telegram Stories, such as AI-generated videos or snapshots of leaderboards. This feature helps users share app achievements as well as promote mini apps within their contacts.

Gifting Stars to Friends

You can now gift or purchase Telegram Stars to friends and family. Telegram Stars were initially intended to purchase content in mini apps or paid content in channels. Moreover, gifted stars will appear as animated gift boxes in chats, and birthday celebrants will be highlighted at the top of the list.

Flash for Video Messages

When recording a video story with the front camera, the front flash now allows users to brighten up the screen in low light. After updating to the latest version of Telegram for iOS or Android devices, the new flash icon will appear at the bottom-left corner of the screen in the camera user interface (UI).

Story Covers

The messaging app also introduced the ability to select a cover photo frame for their video stories when posting them to their profile.

Weather Widget in Stories

Users can also add an animated weather widget to their stories. This update automatically adjusts between Fahrenheit and Celsius based on the device settings of the viewer.

Other than the mobile platform, the new in-app browser and mini apps tab features have also been made available for macOS in the July update, according to Telegram. This development comes a month after the tech giant introduced support for Copilot, Microsoft’s artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot.
