SHARP today announced what the company claims to be the world’s first air purifier with mosquito catcher. FP-FM40E uses Sharp’s Plasmacluster ion technology and a non-toxic mosquito-catching mechanism to try and eliminate both micro and macroscopic pollutants present in indoor air. The air purifier targets to reduce asthma exacerbations and to trap pesky insects like mosquitoes as a preventive measure from mosquito-borne diseases like Dengue, Chikungunya and Malaria.

The purifier captures mosquitoes and fruit flies through a 5 step chemical-free mosquito-catching mechanism. It comes in a black exterior with entrances on both sides to entice nearing mosquitos. The air purifier uses UV lights to attract mosquitoes then capture them by air suction and trap them on a strong glue sheet. Sharp Air Purifier uses negative ions to clean and refresh the contaminated indoor air. It comes equipped with HEPA filter and as per the company, the purifiers can capture 99.97 percent of air particles like smoke, dust and pollen which is as small as 0.03 microns.

Sharp FP-FM40E is priced at Rs 26,000 and is available exclusively through AMAZON.
