Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai was a rare masterpiece ever produced on Indian television that ran for ten years straight before going off-air. Such was the popularity of the show that it also bagged a ten-episode revival extension in 2017. Notably, it was on November 1, 2004, the first episode of Sarabhai vs Sarabhai was telecasted on the small screen. This year completes the 19th anniversary of the remarkable day and the OG cast of the series celebrated the occasion with great zeal. The lead crew of Sarabhai vs Sarabhai reunited for a special dinner on Wednesday evening and actress Rupali Ganguly didn’t fail to give fans a sneak peek of it on Instagram.
Joining the dinner was veteran actress Ratna Pathak Shah, who played the sophisticated mother-in-law Maya Sarabhai, a character that ran the entire show on its shoulder. Who can forget her, “Monisha that is so middle-class” sass? Next in the line was Satish Shah, who essayed the cool father-in-law Indravadan Sarabhai. The man enjoyed opposing his classy wife, making his son’s life miserable. Actor Rajesh Kumar also made an appearance, who played Momma’s boy Rosesh Sarabhai. His world revolved around mom Maya and reciting awful poetries to people around him.
Lastly, Rupali Ganguly demonstrated the middle quirks playing Monisha Sarabhai. Her and Maya’s brilliant yet sarcastic banter was what anchored the show for years and made it a treat for viewers to watch. The only person missing from the Sarabhai family was actor Sumeet Raghavan aka Monisha’s husband Sahil.
Now, upon reuniting the cast members indulged in a quick music session, singing the title track of Sarabhai vs Sarabhai. With infectious smiles, they swooned and had a gala time together. “Sarabhai’s first telecast was on 1st Nov 2004 at 8 pm. Co-actors to friends and friends to family Sarabhai has always been so close to my heart and today marks its 19 years… cheers to those crazy, beautiful, and amazing 19 years! And to celebrate the beautiful journey of Sarabhai. Here’s all of us jamming to our favourite tune,” Rupali Ganguly captioned their reunion video.
