At least 16 people have lost lives in various rain-related incidents in Telangana where downpour for the second consecutive day led to widespread flooding and disruption. In videos circulating on social media, one can see how the torrential rains have submerged many homes and infrastructure.
A video shows a railway track between Kesamudram and Mahabubabad submerged and damaged, leading to the cancellation of train services linking Vijayawada to Warangal, Delhi to Vijayawada and Warangal to Vijayawada.

In another dramatic clip, two Telangana Police personnel are rescuing a man struggling in the rushing waters of the Nagarkurnool River. The video captures the heroic efforts of the policemen and a bystander as they cling to a vehicle in the strong current and pull the man to safety.

An X handle named The South First provided a grim view of flooding in the Mahabubabad district. The footage shows multiple homes submerged under floodwaters and highlighted that many areas have received over 200mm of rainfall.
“Due to heavy rains in Mahabubabad districts, many houses have been submerged. The flood water has swept the roads and small bridges. Most of the district is receiving over 200mm of rainfall,” the post read.

A clip from Prakash Nagar in Khammam district shows buildings submerged due to the overflow of the Munneru River. As per the reports, the flood-hit regions of Khammam have experienced significant destruction, with household belongings being swept away and some items stuck to the gates of houses.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for 10 districts in Telangana on September 3.
The Telangana government estimated the damage of around Rs 5,000 crore and requested immediate central assistance of Rs 2,000 crore. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit the affected areas and declare the floods a national calamity.
Reddy also announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the next of the kins of those who lost their lives. A press release said the state government is preparing to submit a comprehensive damage report to the central authorities.
