60-year-old Woman Goes To Hospital With Headache, Loses Memory Of Past 30 Years
The elderly woman was taken to a hospital after she complained of headache and blurry vision.

You must have come across scenes and plots in Bollywood and Hollywood films, where an individual forgets his past after an accident. While this appears to be the most horrific event that one can go through, a woman experienced the same and shared her story with the media. In what seems to be a plot straight out of a fictional drama, this woman was taken to hospital after she complained of headache and blurry vision. What transpired later is sure to leave you shocked. The 60-year-old woman named Kim Denicola lives in the US state of Louisiana. It was in 2018 when the lady developed an intense headache and blurry vision during a bible study group session. She was taken to the hospital, where she was admitted to the emergency room. Denicola, after waking up in the hospital emergency room, was left with no memories of her married life and that she had two children, essentially losing sight of the past 30 years of her existence.

Denicola was quoted by WAFB as saying, “Never in my wildest dreams did I get up and go to bible study and think I’m going to wake up in the hospital and I’m going to be 60 years old.”

The last thing Denicola could recollect was her final day of school. ”I was leaving school and heading for my car. I had just taken an exam because I was graduating my senior year. ‘The nurse asked me: “Do you know what year it is?” I said: “Yes, ma’am it is 1980”. She asked me who the president was and I said: “Ronald Reagan”.

Doctors informed Denicola was diagnosed with extensive amnesia, known as transient global amnesia or TGA. As per the National Library of Medicine, TGA is a “temporary, anterograde amnesia with an acute onset” that mostly has an impact on middle-aged individuals or those above 50.

The woman is learning to live with her new life and she is trying to get to know her family including her husband, children, and four grandchildren. Despite the difficulties, she is moving forward with great positivity and enthusiasm as she says,’ ‘I may have lost my memories, but guess what? We can make new ones.”
