Driving on the road can be quite unpredictable, as a mishap can happen any moment. That’s where the dash cam comes into play. From capturing evidence of road accidents to monitoring any sort of harassment or fraud, dashboard cameras can be of great help. Many drivers are now turning to a video camera or dash cam, which brings added security and peace of mind. With that said, an X user recently shared a couple of videos showing how the dashcam captured an instance of “staged harassment.”
While driving on Bengaluru’s outskirts on Monday, a man named Piyush Kukkar had an unexpected encounter on Varthur Road, near Prestige Lakeside Habitat, around 10:25 PM. The first clip shows the man driving on a busy street when a person on a scooter suddenly blocks his path.
Following this, as he continued driving, a Bolero started honking from behind him before stopping the vehicle in front and shouting at him. During this time, a two-wheeler could also be seen making a U-turn and approaching Kukkar’s car closely.

Today around 10:25 PM on the outskirts of BLR, I faced a staged harassment incident on Varthur road, near a prestigious lakeside habitat,” the man wrote in his caption.
In the following tweets, he explained that the scooter rider and the Bolero driver made harassment attempts on him. “They forced me to stop, and the Bolero driver got out and began shouting aggressively. Another person on a scooter took a U-turn and came very close to my car. I suspect the Bolero guy indicated to him regarding a dashcam being installed, hence he didn’t hit my car with his scooter,” he added.
I suspect they backed off only because they saw my dashcam recording. This kind of harassment is becoming very common in this area. My family, including my 3-month-old son, was in the car, and this could have escalated dangerously. I have attached the dashcam footage here.— Piyush Kukkar (@piyush17ankur) July 1, 2024
Kukkar mentioned that such incidents of harassment have become common in the area, urging others to positively install a dashcam on their four-wheelers.
His post garnered a lot of attention on social media. While some asked for details of the dashcams, some pointed out that there was no harassment involved. A user wrote, “The dash cam driver sounds drunk and driving very slow under the influence….btw what was the incident… waste of 2 mins.”

Another commented, “Piyush, it’s very obvious from your dashcam that you are driving too slow and blocking other vehicles behind on a 2 lane road. Hence people may be upset by that. Why will someone unnecessarily block you unless it’s a robbery attempt. Pls come out with facts.”

Meanwhile, Bengaluru City Police also reached out to Kukkar, asking for his contact details.
