Road rage incidents have become increasingly common, with numerous videos circulating on the internet showing commuters involved in both verbal and physical altercations. In response to the increasing number of such incidents, Bengaluru Police — in a video — shared a set of guidelines to help commuters on how to deal with road rage encounters, aiming to promote a safer and more peaceful driving environment.
The video begins showing a fight between some commuters, followed by the questions, “Have you ever been involved in a road rage incident? What to do?”
Bengaluru Police then highlighted several key points on how to handle such situations. They advise commuters to stay calm and avoid engaging in arguments, emphasising the importance of not trying to settle the issue on your own. The video further instructs individuals to “take note of vehicle’s details, such as number plate and other identifying features.”
Bengaluru Police further advised contacting emergency helpline numbers to report about the incident and avoid causing traffic disruption. They also suggested that one should “take photos of the incident or the vehicle involved.” When the police arrive, commuters are advised to provide their account of what happened and allow the other person to share their perspective.
The video concludes with advice to “allow law enforcement to take over from there.”

Since being shared, the video has amassed over 400,000 views and received a plethora of reactions in the comment section. However, many users also highlighted the lack of action taken by the police, despite providing all the necessary proofs.
One user shared, “Such a decent one to hear! I had taken this action long back (3yrs back). Holding a 2-year-old baby in my arms, I reached the traffic police station and lodged a complaint with photo proof. Ultimately when the auto driver was called to the station and discussed separately leaving me outside the door. Later when I was called back inside, THAT IS IT!!!! Police told me all mistake was mine!!! I’ve never heard a problem being discussed so non-transparently!!!”
“When we submit all the docs to the police station about the vehicle number of an auto rickshaw, they ignore it by saying the vehicle will be bought by someone, the driver will be someone else so we can’t track them … leave the case,” an individual wrote.
Another remarked, “Even after going to the police station, police officials never do anything. I have experience. Police need money and then do nothing in Bangalore.”
