Travelling without tickets on Indian railways is quite common. There are ticket checkers who frequently visit compartments or are stationed on the platform to keep a watchful eye. But people find a way to escape and travel to their destination. Recently, a content creator decided to prank those who travel ticketless in Mumbai locals. The hilarious video garnered a lot of attention from viewers who could not believe that there were so many travellers trying to evade buying a ticket.
The video was shared on Instagram by content creator Aryan Kataria. It demonstrated how people reacted when he informed them that a train ticket checker was waiting on the platform. In the video, the content creator approached people and informed them that a ticket checker was on the premises. While some passengers were not bothered, there were many who were alerted and took a different route.
One of the passengers was seen telling the creator that he was caught once for commuting without a ticket. At the end of the video, Aryan was seen encouraging one of the ticketless passengers to go to the ticket booth and avoid travelling without a ticket. This was only a prank by the content creator, which exposed many passengers. The caption along with the video stated, “That’s why always buy a ticket.” The video received over 6.7 million views and several reactions from online users.
A user who was quite surprised to see the number of ticketless passengers quipped. “Bhai koi ticket lete hi nai kya abhi? (Does no one buy tickets these days?)” Another user who was angry at the situation stated, “What a shame this is. Looting the Indian Railways. I was waiting for at least one person to say, so I have a ticket. And then people crib about the services of railways.”
An individual jokingly stated, “Agar railway Tak video pahuch jaye tab ..tc logon ki vacancy niklegi (If this video reaches the railway department, TC will lose their jobs)”
Another person hilariously stated, “What if you are leading them to an actual TC?” A user also mentioned, “You should become TC, the way you’ve recognised those without tickets is insane.
Meanwhile, a person suggested, “Locals should have a system like the metro so no one travels ticketless. There’s a reason why railways is always in heavy loss”
