In Scary Video, Woman Gets Stuck Inside Car Amid Flood-Like Situation In Pune
The woman is seen attempting to exit her car through the window, however, fails to do so.

Heavy rains lash Pune, triggering flooding in several areas. Within a span of less than five hours, Pune witnessed an intense downpour measuring 101.7 mm, as reported by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Amidst the deluge, a woman driving in the city finds herself stranded in floodwaters, with no means of escape. A video capturing her plight is shared on X.

The footage depicts an area of the city submerged in knee-high water due to persistent downpours. The stranded woman is seen seeking help amidst the floodwaters. She is seen attempting to exit her car via the window in the footage, which was taken from what seems to be a balcony. She does not, however, succeed. Soon, she is seen being rescued by Pune municipal traffic officials, who can be spotted in yellow raincoats.

The text accompanying the X post read, “A woman driver found herself in a difficult situation as she struggled to get out of her car In Viman Nagar. Quick response from @PuneCityTraffic (sic) personnel, she was promptly rescued.”

The video has more than 56,000 views on the social media platform.

People in the comments section were highly critical of the situation.

A user wrote, “All this after paying crores of rupees in property, income, road taxes & GST.”

Another user took a sarcastic approach to write, “Come on. Pune is a world-class city and it becomes Venice in rainy season. Citizens need to carry inflating boats.”

Meanwhile, a third user said, “Beautiful development. We have turned Pune into Venice. Only caveat, we use cars instead of boats.”

Even though Maharashtra has not yet experienced the monsoon, pre-monsoon rains on June 8 inundated parts of Pune, causing traffic congestion, according to Lokmat.

According to the report, heavy rains that began on Saturday at 5 p.m. uprooted trees in fifteen different locations around the city.

Not only did flooded roads hinder traffic but waterlogging in several Pune locations made travelling challenging. The IMD had earlier predicted that the weather in Pune would be mostly overcast with sporadic rain from June 8–11, with heavy rain and thunderstorms expected on June 13.

The Indian Express reports that while intense rain battered Pune’s Upper Ota neighbourhood, a man was killed when a tree collapsed on him.
