In UP’s Mirzapur, Python Attacking Jackal Causes Terror Among Locals

A shocking video from Mirzapur (Uttar Pradesh), where a python preys on a jackal, has gone viral. In this striking footage, the python is seen swallowing a live jackal, an occurrence that has left local residents both fascinated and horrified. Some onlookers managed to capture the dramatic event on their phones, and the video quickly spread across various social media platforms, garnering attention from users around the world. The incident took place in the Fateha neighbourhood of the city’s Kotwali area early in the morning. The atmosphere turned chaotic when a massive python ambushed and devoured a jackal hiding in the bushes. As the video made its rounds on social media, it sparked significant concern among the people of Fateha.

The presence of a large python in the area has created a sense of unease, as many locals have begun to fear for their safety and that of their pets. In response to the growing anxiety, the forest department reassured the community that they would take swift action to address the situation. Officials stated that the python would soon be captured and released back into the wilderness, away from populated areas, to prevent any potential harm to humans or other animals.

Shankar Valmiki, a local resident, shared his firsthand account of the incident. He explained that the python had been concealed in the nearby bushes when a jackal, having wandered far from its natural habitat, inadvertently approached its hiding spot. As soon as the jackal sought refuge among the shrubs, the python sprang into action, using its powerful body to ensnare the unsuspecting animal. This unexpected and dramatic event stunned everyone present, leaving them speechless as they witnessed the raw and untamed realities of nature.

Divisional Forest Officer Arvind Raj Mishra addressed the media regarding the incident, emphasising the importance of public safety. He stated that upon receiving notifications about the python’s behaviour, a specialised team from the forest department was promptly dispatched to the scene. Mishra assured the public that the python would be safely captured and transported to a more suitable location in the forest, far from human habitation, to ensure that it does not pose a threat to any other animals or individuals in the community.
