An unusual case involving a married couple has come to light in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. A woman reportedly has refused to live with her husband claiming that she doesn’t like his skin tone. This was reported at the police station. The story begins when a woman from a village that falls under the Lahchura Police Station area suddenly disappeared from her home. Her husband reportedly searched for her for several days but failed. After 7 days, she was found by the police but she refused to stay with her husband. She mentioned that she took the decision due to the man’s dark complexion. The name of the man is Durgapal and is a resident of the Lahchura Dam area. He got married around 6 years ago to Jyoti from the Rora village. On September 2, Jyoti suddenly went missing from home. When Durgapal failed to find his wife he filed a missing person’s report at the police station and informed the police that a significant amount of money and jewellery were also missing. When the police began their investigation, they found out through CCTV footage and call details that Jyoti left the house on a bike along with two other men.
After days of searching, Jyoti was found in Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh. When the police brought her to the station and interrogated her to know the reason why she left, her answers left everyone amazed. She mentioned that she did not want to live with her husband and accused her husband and in-laws of harassment for dowry. Jyoti also stated that she doesn’t like her husband because he is dark-skinned. According to Arun Tiwari, station in-charge of Lahchura, the woman made some serious allegations against her husband while expressing her unwillingness to stay with him.
Durgapal claimed that Jyoti’s behaviour had been inappropriate. He mentioned that she didn’t like his relatives and wanted to distance herself from the family. He also accused Jyoti of demanding Rs 10 lakh and warned that if he didn’t pay, she would register a case against him and the entire family.
