Good performance at work earns you perks, promotions, a good raise and many more. But a TikTok video that has gone viral has a woman speaking about how she was shown the door by her company because she was “too good at her job”.
In a video that was uploaded to the platform and has subsequently received thousands of views, Mariela presented her version of events. She said, “I was let go from my job yesterday, and part of the reason was that I worked too much. During our morning meeting yesterday, my boss informed me that he would schedule meetings with the director of sales to discuss the upcoming events. The corporate talk, if they require a visual, if we have to close and all that talk.”
She replied to her boss saying that she had already logged into the company website and done all the things mentioned beforehand and put the project in the project management software. However, instead of being rewarded for being quick, Mariela said she was fired from her job.
In response to inquiries from users, she stated that there was “more to the story” and asserted that her boss started considering her as a threat in June last year. Her boss, she said, was rendered ‘worthless’ since she didn’t need to be told what to do any more.
After all, what good is a boss if they can’t even boss others around? Mariela then claimed that because her boss frequently failed to show up, she was forced to “do his job because he wasn’t there.”
The practice of posting your firing on TikTok appears to be becoming more and more common, maybe as an attempt to increase openness about what transpired.
