Snow has finally covered Jammu and Kashmir after a long wait, turning the whole area into a beautiful winter scene. The first snowfall arrived in most parts of Kashmir during Chillai Kalan, a 40-day winter period from December 21 to January 21. Surprisingly, this winter was the driest ever recorded, with no snow during Chillai Kalan. Tourist spots like Pahalgam, Sonamarg, and even the famous Gulmarg ski resort received very little snow. But the dry spell ended with Wednesday’s snowfall, bringing joy to the people of Kashmir and transforming the region into a winter wonderland.
The video posted by the Railway Minister on Thursday has already garnered close to 6 lakh views and numerous comments.
“Seems like it’s in Switzerland!” commented one user.

Recently, Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw responded to a viral video depicting a ticket checker assaulting passengers on a train. The incident occurred on the Barauni-Lucknow Express, where the TTE repeatedly slapped a passenger, pulling his muffler forcefully, and verbally abusing him for travelling without a ticket. In a statement, Minister Vaishnaw expressed “zero tolerance for such misconduct.” He announced the immediate suspension of the TTE, emphasising the need for stringent action against such behaviour.
