Imagine asking your cab driver to turn on the AC and then experiencing something straight out of a nightmare. This is exactly what happened to a Reddit user who requested their Uber driver to switch on the taxi’s AC. What followed was an unexpected and terrifying ordeal that left the passenger deeply shaken.
The Redditor shared their story on the ‘Bangalore’ subreddit. “After getting into car I asked driver to switch on the AC primarily to avoid dust. The drives started saying in Kannada that why AC , you cancel the ride,” began the Redditor. Politely, they told the driver, “Please drop me right away and I don’t want to go in your car.But this was the tipping point. According to the Redditor, the driver became furious. “He switched on the AC immediately and started driving car completely like insane. Sudden brake, sudden acceleration and kept doing rash driving. I have vertigo problem so I though sudden jerk like this might trigger the dizziness” they explained.

Fearing for their safety, the Redditor decided to call Uber Safety, who advised them to get off at a safe location. But the driver didn’t stop there. “Somehow this driver understood that I complained and he wrote my name and residential block details on paper and told me that he knows pick-up location and gesture that he will take action,” the Redditor added.
Feeling threatened, the OP highlighted, “I felt how can he openly threat me. All time driver kept talking in Kannada and kept asking me to speak only Kannada and no Hindi or English. When we will be accepted here?” They further expressed their frustration, “I feel really irritated how we are being treated here. I have very good Kannada friends and they are like gem guys. But these auto , taxi drivers are ruining the impression here.”

The post quickly went viral, garnering reactions from the public. “It’s not just about talking in Kannada, I am an kannadiga and was new to the city and I was scammed by these idiots. They just need some excuse to harass people. Sorry, you had to go through this,” expressed one commenter. Many others echoed similar sentiments and suggested reporting the driver to the police.
