Kerala’s Wayanad district has been struck by multiple landslides following heavy rains that have resulted in several fatalities. According to ANI, the landslides claimed the lives of over 70 people, while many others are feared dead. As rescue operations remain underway in the affected regions, industrialist Anand Mahindra has stepped forward to help with the relief efforts. Expressing sympathy for the people amid the devastation, the Mahindra Group chairman wrote a heartfelt note on the X.
“Wayanad is a paradise on earth. To see it devastated by landslides with many lives lost is a tragedy. Our hearts are with the people of Wayanad, and we will do whatever we can in the relief effort,” he noted.

Heavy rains in southern India triggered massive landslides in the hilly areas of Wayanad district in the early hours of Tuesday. While several people have lost their lives, hundreds are feared to be trapped under the debris. Rescue operations are being carried out to control the situation.

The landslides have also caused extensive damage, destroying houses, uprooting trees and swelling water bodies, further restricting rescue efforts. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed concern over the matter and is in touch with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. “Distressed by the landslides in parts of Wayanad. My thoughts are with all those who have lost their loved ones and prayers with those injured. Rescue ops are currently underway to assist all those affected,” he tweeted on Tuesday.
