While Elon Musk has vowed to change the world with electric cars and rockets, he apparently has to take care of his organisation’s bakery bills as well. Recently, a California bakery, ‘The Giving Pies’ accused Tesla of making a substantial order that was later doubled before getting cancelled entirely. The cancellation caused problems for the bakery as they had already purchased raw materials for the order. The situation led to an intervention from the Tesla and SpaceX owner who promptly settled the outstanding bill of $2,000 (Rs 1.65 lakh) for the cancelled pies. The CEO reportedly did not have any idea about the order. He replied to a news link about the story on X (Formerly Twitter). “Just hearing about this. Will make things good with the bakery. People should always be able to count on Tesla trying its best,” he wrote.

Several online users have now reacted to the situation wondering about the leftover pies. A user wrote, “Can I have the unused pies?” Another praised Tesla for handling things so swiftly. “Yeah really flippant of whatever employee pilled this – not a normative for Tesla. I know a handful of small businesses that have loved doing work & small projects with Tesla Events etc. Tesla is awesome this way.” While a netizen joked that Musk had ordered a massive stock of pie that would last him an eternity, “Elon ordered a lifetime supply of pie”, he said. Another was thankful to the CEO for directly stepping in and dealing with the situation. “Great to see that you jump in and fix that issue”, he said.

The episode arose back on February 22 when a small business owner in San Jose complained about her store losing thousands of dollars after Tesla unexpectedly cancelled a large order of mini pies. As per Kron4 media, the owner of Giving Pies Voahangy Rasetarinera had previously put together orders for large corporations like Apple, Google and Intuit. In a similar case, the bakery received a last-minute order request from Tesla for 2000 pies on Valentine’s Day. One-half of this order was to be delivered on Tuesday and the other half on Thursday. Rasetarinera had agreed and then waited for Tesla to pay.
The business owner reached out to Tesla after not hearing from them. The company later apologised and asked them to double the order. Rasetarinera agreed and then sent an invoice to Tesla for 4000 pies. The company then later told the bakery that they would no longer need the order which resulted in the owner posting about her frustration on social media, ultimately leading to a response from Elon Musk to solve the problem.
