US Woman Attempts To Poison Husband For Not Appreciating Her Efforts

A 47-year-old woman named Michelle from Missouri, USA is facing multiple charges for allegedly spiking her husband’s Mountain Dew with RoundUp herbicide. According to Oddity Central, the woman did this because he was unappreciative of the 50th birthday party she had thrown for him. For those who don’t know, herbicide is a chemical substance that farmers use to kill plants that are growing where they are not wanted. On June 24, the man, whose name has not been revealed for personal privacy reasons, notified the Laclede County Sheriff’s Office about it. The man said that he had reasons to believe his wife was trying to poison him. On May 1, he noticed that one of the bottles of Mountain Dew in the refrigerator had an awkward taste. He initially ignored it but then started facing troubling symptoms like diarrhoea, throat soreness, brown/yellow mucus and vomiting.

He observed that the Mountain Dew had a normal taste when he drank it outside the house. The bottles in his garage fridge had the same odd taste. Suspecting that someone might be putting something in his favourite drink, he checked the camera surveillance system. The system showed his wife “taking a two-litre bottle of Diet Mountain Dew out of the garage refrigerator. She then took out a bottle of Roundup weed killer into the house,” before returning with them and putting them back in their respective places.

The man was afraid for his life and made a copy of the CCTV footage and gave it to someone he trusted, in case he died from the poisoning. He also changed his routine, but whenever he put a new Mountain Dew bottle in the garage fridge, his wife would spike it with herbicide. She had used so much of the toxic substance that the first container was almost empty and kept another one on the shelf one day.

The man felt that his wife might be after the payout from his $500,000 (Rs 3,775 crore) life insurance policy, or that she might be having an affair and want him out of the picture. When questioned by the police, his wife revealed that she was mad at him because he didn’t praise her for organising his birthday party.
