Motherhood is among the most special feelings in a woman’s life. Most mothers nurture their children and provide love and care for them. Recently, a case has been going viral on social media where a woman gave birth twice in six months. As per reports, she has two children, a 1-year-old and a 6-month-old.
According to reports, the woman is Jessica, who works as a hairstylist in California, US. A woman can have two twins, but she cannot have two children at an interval of six months. But the situation turned out to be quite different for Jessica, as she has given two births in six months.
Jessica has herself explained the reason behind this. She revealed that this happened through superfetation. This means that a woman can become pregnant again even if she is already pregnant. Superfetation is an extremely rare medical condition where two babies are born in the same uterus at different times. This means that there are two foetuses in the same womb, but both will have different levels of development. Superfetal babies are technically twins, but they have a different timeline and ways of growing.
Jessica added that sometimes the person does not understand that they have two babies inside them. It is only after proper tests by medical professionals in the initial months that it can be understood. Superfetation is a very rare condition. Until now, there were just 10 such cases of superfetation, and Jessica’s case is the 11th one. Some of the cases have also reported that the difference between children was just a few weeks.
