Mumbai has been grappling with relentless rainfall creating a significant chaos and disruption for residents. Incessant rain triggered widespread waterlogging affecting multiple areas. Roads turned into rivers, railway tracks were submerged and flight operations have been affected due to low runway visibility. Social media is awash with visuals of the havoc including flooded streets and submerged vehicles. Among the videos, one such particularly striking clip shows a train navigating through submerged railway tracks, capturing the financial capital’s struggle against the relentless downpour.
The video captures a local train in Mumbai showing both the engine and the first compartment. Recorded by passengers on an opposite train, the footage shows the train moving through waterlogged tracks with people standing at the exit gate of the first compartment.
The footage was initially shared by a journalist on X and was reshared by many later. A user, resharing the video with a witty caption, wrote, “They did a collab between Railways and Waterways during #MumbaiRains.”

The heavy rains in Mumbai have forced the closure of schools. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Tuesday forecasting more intense showers.
The incessant rainfall has not only disrupted road and rail traffic but has also severely impacted air travel. Operations at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) have been temporarily halted, resulting in numerous flight diversions and the cancellation of over 50 flights.
