ZNMD Made in 1980s Using AI Has Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini and Reddit Has Thoughts

No matter how many years pass, certain classic movies continue to spark lively conversations on social media. Among these, ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ (ZNMD) stands out as a perennial favorite among Bollywood fans. The film’s exploration of relationships, materialism, and the essence of life was so effectively captured in its three-hour runtime that each viewing offers a fresh perspective. But can you imagine if the roles had been played by a different cast? Well, artificial intelligence (AI) did just that, and much to everyone’s surprise, it missed the mark by a mile.

A recent AI-generated video shared on Reddit imagined who might have played Arjun, Imraan, Kabir, and Laila if the film had been made in the 1980s. It envisioned Amitabh Bachchan as Arjun (originally played by Hrithik Roshan), Naseeruddin Shah as Imraan (originally played by Farhan Akhtar), Dharmendra as Kabir (originally played by Abhay Deol), and Hema Malini as Laila (originally played by Katrina Kaif).

However, fans were less than impressed. Many criticised the AI’s face-editing skills and argued that the essence of Spain couldn’t have been better captured by anyone other than the original cast.

“In place of Spain, the group would have gone to Banaras instead,” remarked one user in the comments. “Tomatina ki jagah holi khelte,” suggested another. A third user joked, “Hrithik looks more like Sonu sood than AB.” And a fourth breathed a sigh of relief, “Thank god it was not made at that time.”

Earlier, AI reimagined a ZNMD Hollywood remake already! A reimagined the cast of ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ with Hollywood stars. The video had Chris Hemsworth replacing Hrithik Roshan, Ryan Reynolds replacing Farhan Akhtar, Matt Damon replacing Abhay Deol, and Anna Hathaway replacing Katrina Kaif as Laila.

Interestingly, AI had previously toyed with the idea of a Hollywood remake of ZNMD, recasting the roles with Tinseltown’s finest. The video featured Chris Hemsworth as Arjun, Ryan Reynolds as Imraan, Matt Damon as Kabir, and Anne Hathaway as Laila.
