Here’s Why Uzbekistan's Tourism Industry Has Seen a Five-fold Growth​
About 1.4 million tourists visited Uzbekistan in the first quarter of 2019. This is 972.3 thousand people more compared to the same period last year.

Uzbekistan has seen a fivefold increase in tourism for over three years. If the country had over 1 million tourists in 2016, state policy aimed at development of tourism saw their numbers reach 5 million by the end of 2018, according to an international conference on the development of tourism in Uzbekistan.

About 1.4 million tourists visited Uzbekistan in the first quarter of 2019. This is 972.3 thousand people more compared to the same period last year.

State police of Uzbekistan says tourism should become one of the drivers for accelerated integrated development of the region and should contribute towards its major social and economic goals.

During the conference it was noted that the country which has 7,000 historical monuments pays special attention to the modernization of the tourism industry. The conference further noted that the country pays special attention to the development and improvement of the regulatory framework for the sustainable development of the industry and the organization of services for foreign guests in accordance with international standards.

Accordingly, Uzbekistan is increasingly noted in international rankings of the best places to travel, popular countries for gastronomic tourism, safe countries to visit.

The country also worked towards accelerating the development of tourism sector and subsequently increasing its role towards contributing to the economy, diversification and improvement of the quality of tourist services and improvement of tourist infrastructure.

Accordingly, the intensive development of the tourism industry in Uzbekistan, including respect for the historical and cultural heritage, creation of infrastructure that meets international standards and strengthening of international relations have turned it into one of the most visited countries in the region.

Notably, Uzbekistan aims towards achieving increased efficiency of the ongoing reforms to create favourable economic conditions and prerequisites for the development of the national tourism industry by 2025.
