“Yes, there is a challenge from China, they have violated agreements and have sent a large number of troops to the border. However, India should take pride in the fact that despite the Covid, we counter deployed and sent a record number of troops to the border, ” said the External Affairs Minister in response to questions regarding the India-China border row.
The external affairs minister further noted that the country should support its military and refrain from criticising or undermining its efforts. He stated, “The country should be supporting the military and should not be running down the military.”
On Hardeep Singh Nijjar’s killing case
Regarding the fourth arrest made by Canada in connection with the killing of Khalistan separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, the foreign minister emphasised that India has not received any specific and worthy of being pursued by its investigative agencies.
“We have never received anything which is specific and worthy of being pursued by our investigative agencies and I am not aware that anything has changed in the last few days in that regard,” he stated.
Additionally, Jaishankar expressed New Delhi’s willingness to cooperate with an investigation if Ottawa possesses any evidence or information pertaining to relevant violence that warrants investigation within India.
