'Hell Of A Match': Shawn Michaels Picks One Of The Underrated Fueds Of His WWE Career
During a recent show, the Heartbreak Kid once went up against Mick Foley in a title clash at WWF Mind Games in 1996, in which Michaels secured an easy win in the match and clinched the World Heavyweight Championship.

WWE legend Shawn Michaels has reminisced about one of the underrated matches of his wrestling career. Fans mostly remember Michaels for his storied rivalries against The Undertaker, Bret Hart and his fellow DX member Paul Levesque aka Triple H. During his heyday, Michaels competed against some other superstars of his time but those feuds were not popular enough. He talked about one such match during a recent interaction with The Schmo. The Heartbreak Kid once went up against Mick Foley in a title clash at WWF Mind Games in 1996. Michaels secured an easy win in the match and clinched the World Heavyweight Championship.

Speaking about the fight with The Schmo, the two-time WWE Hall of Famer said, “I don’t know if they were fused with the two matches that I’m pretty proud of, but one of my most underrated feuds was the one with Mankind. Mick and I had a hell of a match at WWF Mind Games, but it was just a one-shot deal. And it’s one of those things that I always feel like had Mick and I had a better opportunity to have a much bigger storyline, we could have really done some fantastic things,” as quoted by Wrestling INC.

During the conversation, Michaels referred to another match that he reckons failed to create much hype. At the 1995 In Your House 2: The Lumberjacks event, he clashed against Jeff Jarrett in an Intercontinental Championship match. Michaels had the last laugh in the fight and won the coveted title for the third time in his career. He later defended the Intercontinental Championship against Razor Ramon at the 1995 SummerSlam.

Recalling the match against Jarret, Michaels said, “Jeff and I always had really good chemistry. I think the matches against Foley and Jarrett get mentioned a lot, but they don’t get brought up in the overall big story standpoint of my career.”

Shawn Michaels, who won the WWE Championship multiple times, earned the moniker “Mr WrestleMania” for putting up some impressive performances at the premium live event. He competed in 17 WrestleMania matches and won six of them. Michaels got the better of some top-tier wrestlers like El Matador, Chris Jericho, Vince McMahon and Ric Flair at the pay-per-view event.
