WWE Friday Night SmackDown’s latest episode took place at the Amica Mutual Pavilion in Rhode Island on December 8. The show saw CM Punk make a return to SmackDown on the Tribute to the Troops special. The “Second City Saint” will be deciding which brand he is going to be a part of on the upcoming Monday. The United States Championship tournament also started in full swing on the night. The two first-round matches saw Santos Escobar take on Dragon Lee while Bobby Lashley faced Karrion Kross. In women’s action, Charlotte Flair faced Asuka in a one-on-one competition. The main event saw Randy Orton join forces with LA Knight as they took on The Bloodline.

Santos Escobar vs Dragon Lee – First-Round Match for the United States Championship Tournament
With the ring of the bell, Lee connected with a boot in Escobar’s face. He then clotheslined Escobar out of the ring who recovered and quickly slid back in. As we returned from a break, Lee landed another clothesline on Escobar and then delivered a dropkick. Escobar fired back with an elbow but took a German suplex. Lee then hit the sit-out powerbomb for a two-pinfall. Next, Escobar got Lee up on his shoulders to land the Phantom Driver for a victory.
Bobby Lashley vs Karrion Kross First-Round Match for the United States Championship Tournament
Kross wasted no time as he fired off multiple strikes early on Lashley. He then delivered a knee before landing several boots as the action moved to the outside. Lashley leveled cross and put him inside the ring before delivering a German suplex. Kross the landed a suplex on Lashley before following up with a boot. Lashley eventually recovered before hitting a swinging leg hook fireman’s carry slam, followed by a vertical suplex. He finished off Kross with a spear.
Asuka vs Charlotte Flair
Asuka fired off on Flair early with kicks to her thighs. Flair delivered a back suplex before taking an elbow. She next hit an Enzuigiri, followed by a drop kick. Flair sent Asuka crashing into the barricade and landed a moonsault from the top rope. After the break, Flair locked in the Figure Eight Leg Lock but Bayley caused an interference. This led to Asuka escaping the submission hold and rolling Flair up for a pinfall victory.
Randy Orton and LA Knight vs The Bloodline
Orton and Jimmy started the action as the bell rang. Orton took early control with some stomps on Jimmy in the corner before hitting a low drop kick. Orton caught Jimmy with a powerslam but Jimmy took the action outside the ring. Orton ran his face through the announcer’s table before getting him back inside to deliver his signature DDT. Next, Knight looked to hit Jimmy with a Samoan spike but Orton intervened with an RKO.
