In a significant upgrade for travellers at Kanpur Railway Station in Uttar Pradesh, air-conditioned sleeping pods are being introduced to enhance passenger comfort. This initiative, inspired by similar facilities in Japan, marks the first time such pods are being installed at Kanpur Central Railway Station.
The station will soon feature 38 dormitory-style sleeping pods, designed to provide a restful waiting experience for passengers facing delays. These pods will be fully air-conditioned and available at affordable rates: Rs 150 for one hour, Rs 350 for three hours, and Rs 1400 for a full day.
These new pods come equipped with various amenities including lighting, charging points, and glass panels. Additionally, a washroom facility will be available near the pods to further accommodate passengers’ needs.
Kanpur is the second district in Uttar Pradesh to implement these sleeping pods, following their introduction in Prayagraj. The move aims to address the lack of adequate resting facilities at the station, providing a comfortable solution for those facing long waits due to train delays.
