Rajesh Khanna made some of the biggest films during this period, and he created a mass hysteria among the audience. Given his superstardom, it does not come as a surprise that Rajesh Khanna soon became the highest-paid lead actor of his time. As per reports, it was also reported that Rajesh Khanna had forced eminent filmmaker Hrishikesh Mukherjee to add a song to one of the biggest and most popular films of Rajesh Khanna’s career.
According to reports, the name of the film was none other than Anand. The film was released in 1971 and starred Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan in the lead roles. At the time of his release, Rajesh Khanna was at the peak of his career and was receiving a lot of love from the masses. It has been found that the superstar of Bollywood wanted a song in the film that was initially supposed to be used in the background. The name of the song was Zindagi Kaisi Hai Paheli. It was sung by the most popular singer of that time, Manna Dey.
This song was first finalised for the background, which was to be played throughout the film. When Rajesh Khanna heard this song, he was mesmerised by Manna Dey’s voice. He asked the producer to include this song in the film and stated that he would feature in it. At first, Mukherjee was not ready for this change, but later he agreed to Rajesh Khanna’s insistence. The decision to include the song in the film turned out to be great, as it became one of the most popular songs.
Manna Dey also started getting a lot of recognition. Over the years, he sang many songs like Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, Ek Chatur Nar, Yaari Hai Iman Mera, and Aye Mere Pyare Watan. Singers like Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Mukesh, and Lata Mangeshkar were also crazy about his voice. Manna Dey died of a heart attack on October 24, 2013.
