Bangalore: Kingfisher Airlines and low-cost carrier Deccan have hiked fuel surcharge from Tuesday following 19 per cent increase in the cost of aviation turbine fuel (ATF), an official of the combined airlines said Monday.
“The higher fuel surcharge will be levied on flights departing after Monday midnight and from early hours of Tuesday. It is increased by Rs.300 for sectors up to 750 km and by Rs.550 for sectors beyond 750 km,” the UB group spokesperson said in a statement.
The UB group of tycoon Vijay Mallya operates Kingfisher and Deccan following the merger of the two entities early this year.
As a major private airline, Kingfisher operates about 248 flights a day with a fleet of 42 aircraft and has a network of 38 destinations across the country.
Similarly, Deccan operates about 350 flights a day with a fleet of 43 aircraft and has a network of 65 destinations across the country.
