Chennai: Motorbike manufacturer Royal Enfield has increased prices of its distinctive bikes by Rs 2,200 citing rise in cost of raw materials. The price hike will come into effect from January 1, 2007.
"Continuous rise in input costs of raw materials has compelled the company to take this decision," the company said in a release.
The price hike is applicable on bikes manufactured by Royal Enfield in Chennai, including the Bullet 350, Bullet 500, Bullet Electra, Bullet Electra 5S, Bullet Machismo, and the Thunderbird.
Royal Enfield, one of the oldest motorcycle companies in the world, is a heritage British Classic motorcycle brand manufactured from its only plant at Chennai.
Royal Enfield Bullet 350 has been placed Number One in the 'Cruiser Segment' in the 'TNS Total Customer Satisfaction study', 2005.
Royal Enfields are known for their distinctive character, legendary beat and power. Aficionados in Britain, Europe, US, Japan and Australia own it for its classic heritage values. It is also exported to Southeast Asian markets.
