Mumbai: Chennai hotelier Vikram Aggarwal, under investigation for his links with bookies betting on IPL matches, will be question by Mumbai Police again on Saturday. After evading the police for a few days and refusing to honour the summons by Chennai Police, Aggarwal finally appeared before the Mumbai Police crime branch on Friday to record his statement.

Known as Victor in betting circles, Aggarwal was on Friday interrogated face to face with BCCI chief N Srinivasan’s son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan, who is under arrest for betting on IPL matches. The police custody of Meiyappan and actor Vindoo Dara Singh has been extended till June 3.

According to Himanshu Roy, Mumbai Police Joint Commissioner (crime), Aggarwal, owner of Radisson Blu hotel, is a “key link” between the betting syndicate and Bollywood celebrities. Meiyappan, armed with privileged information as CSK’s Team Principal, is alleged to have placed “huge bets” on IPL matches after fixing the game, including those involving the Chennai franchise. He is said to have lost Rs 1 crore through betting.

Meanwhile, bookie Ashwin Agarwal alias Tinku Mandi alias Tinku Delhi will be produced in a Mumbai court later on Saturday by the Mumbai Police for seeking his remand. His interrogation is likely to shed light on the Pakistani connection to the betting racket, sources said.

Cricketer Ankeet Chavan who is out on bail is gearing up for his marriage which is scheduled to take place on June 2.
